Off-the-rack designs are uncommissioned dresses made for the shop. Selling them gives a repeatable way to turn spare fabric and spare time into gold.
Short answer. Use leftover or inexpensive fabric to make a complete off-the-rack dress, then sell it. Higher material value, clean construction, and progression can improve the result.
